Now here’s the file size that’s gonna bless your poor external or internal harddrive. If you like having those kind of high-quality, transparent renders you get in After Effects by rendering in AVI lossless + alpha, then this is basically a Sony Vegas equivalent for that. The trick, however, is making sure that before you render, the ‘interleave’ option is checked as I have noticed when dragging files without it into After Effects, the program is not able to identify the alpha layer:Īs the picture also says, it’s a good idea to leave your audio unchecked and the project quality settings on ‘best’, since we want the smallest file size we can get but with the best quality too ( *key changes are outlined with the red arrows*) So here are some settings to help you out :3 These kind of files can be suuuuper helpful to know about, either for someone who does indeed mask in Vegas like I do and doesn’t want to go through the pain of using a greenscreen or someone who has transparent masks rendered in AVI that are wayyyyy too massive and take up too much space on their harddrive (cause believe me, I certainly do!) You now have a rendered video file that removes the background without having to key or remask, allowing you to place whatever image or setting you’d like instead without any extra hassle:įeel free to ignore my awful manip/mask in here whoop whoop :’) Meaning instead of having to use a ‘greenscreen’ mask like this that has to be keyed: Many of you probably know you can render a video file with a transparent background in After Effects, but did you know that you can do the same thing in Sony Vegas? ) So I have no idea if some of this information has been posted before by anyone in the editing community, but I figured I’d share my own settings and methods in case anyone didn’t know or was just plain curious as to how I work things :3
